Seattle, Washington – Lake Washington
Designed by a local architect in the ’70s, this waterfront home has been thoughtfully reimagined — restoring its original spirit through improved flow, abundant natural light, and a seamless indoor-outdoor connection.
THE VISION
Located on a stunning lot across from Seward Park, this 1970s home had good bones and a killer view — but had lost its way through a string of unfortunate remodels. The homeowners came to DLK Design with a clear goal: restore the structure’s original soul while creating a brighter, more functional space for daily life and entertaining.
I said, “Challenge accepted.”
THE APPROACH
I kept the existing footprint intact but reimagined everything else. The main floor was completely gutted and rebuilt with a more intuitive flow, placing the kitchen at the heart of the home and creating smoother transitions between spaces.
Much of the exterior was opened up with oversized sliding glass doors to bring in natural light, improve sightlines, and finally connect the living room and deck in a meaningful way.
The result is a space that feels modern, effortless, and true to its Pacific Northwest origins — with every update made to enhance the home’s livability without compromising its character.
